Girl Trip 2021

Lexi and I arrived in Aruba to begin a week long “Girl Trip”!  We picked up our rental car and drove out to Sunset Beach Studios in Malmok.  

Dinner that night was yummy ribs and a giant piece of chocolate cake at Smoky Joe’s, a Aruban tradition.

The next morning we made a run to Super Foods for munchies for our stay where Lexi found Stroopwaffles and I found the Gouda! 

During our weeklong stay we snorkeled several times, swam in the pool and soaked in the hot tub!  We booked a trip to Mangel Halto with Seabob and had fun even if it was pretty rough!  Tony, our favorite Seabob guide was glad to see us again.

We had lunch at Zeerover’s for a taste of the local cuisine……shrimp and fish, but decided it needed more seasoning!  

Tuesday night we had dinner reservations at Barefoot and it proved to be a great choice!  

Shopping was another priority for Lexi and she found everything she wanted in town in a very short time. Some other stops for food included La Granga, Super Foods cafe, and the Local Store for burgers!

On Thursday we booked a UTV with Arubiana and went off roading and exploring the island….miles and miles of bumpy roads, and after inhaling lots of the Aruba dust we made it to Baby Beach for a swim. Boy, did that feel great!

.Our final dinner was at Pinchos at a table over the water at sunset!  Only problem was the wind was blowing like crazy!

During our stay we met two sweet gals from California and did share some hot tub time with them one night!  They left us the sweetest note on our table before we headed home!  Hoping our paths cross with them again one day!

Of course no trip would be complete without catching up with JP and Eef, the owners of the resort.  It was good to see them again!

Our week completed we headed home with a big bag of memories

Lady Go Divers Invade Curacao 2021

After over a year delay because of Covid, the Lady Go Divers fifteen strong arrived at the Lions Dive Beach Resort.  The dive operation, Ocean Encounters provided us a big boat, and a great crew….Jeremiah, Charlotte, and Pol.  Diving began on Sunday with two morning dives each day. Hour long dives were standard, and the service onboard was great.  

After diving we enjoyed lunch and hung out at the beach under a big palapa.  Dinner was included at the resort, but some decided to enjoy some other local restaurants.

Diving was pretty easy at 40-60 feet mostly, viz was pretty and and we only had current on a few dives.  The divemaster called for a drift if the current was to strong.  We saw lots of creatures….seahorses, turtles,   lobsters,  rockfish, and juvenile drum.  Cecilia managed to find a Lancer Dragonet, about the size of 2 grains of rice swimming by a big sea fan!  She is great at finding the itty, bitty stuff!

Cecilia and I enjoyed dinner one night at Mosa and another night at Kome…but epicurean delights!  Charlotte, our divemaster gave us some dinner suggestions.  Our final dinner was at the Italian Restaurant at the resort.  

Our flight was late getting to Miami, luggage took 40 minutes and most in our group had issues with connections.  Thanks American Airlines!  I pulled into my home at 2 am.  After so long it was great to see all the gals and we quickly caught up with each other.

Cabin Life!

Flying into Albuquerque we picked up our rent car and drove to our cabin 25 miles North of Durango.  The cabin at 42 Deer Run Way was rustic with the bedroom located in a big loft, making the trek at night to the bathroom kinda tricky. The weather was in the mid 70s during the day and 40s at night!  

We didn’t really have much planned or booked and just spent our days exploring the area.  The weather for our train ride was near perfect and we enjoyed Silverton.  

While out exploring we found Lemon Lake which was a picturesque spot nestled among the mountains.  Molas Lake was another discovery that proved to be breathtaking. After days on the go, we drove to Ouray for a soak in the hot springs and enjoyed burgers at Maggie’s Kitchen.

We drove back to Albuquerque, spent the night before our flight home!
