Lexi and I were off to Aruba for five days trying to pack as much fun and sun in as possible! Think we accomplished our mission. Day One was a flight from Houston to Orlando, then Orlando to Aruba landing in the early afternoon. Getting our rental car, "Little Huyndai" as Lexi called it, we stopped at Super Foods for some groceries....then on to Sunset Beach Studios in Malmok. Dinner that night was at Smokey Joe's, some yummy ribs. With a full tummy we crashed early that night!
Day Two started off with some snorkeling and looking for turtles, then snorkeling the reef finding an eel and lots of marine life. A tour guide from SeaBob let Lexi try out a machine for about an hour and of course she loved it. After a quick bite on the porch we were off to tour the island.....California Lighthouse, Alta Vista Chapel, several blow holes, and lots of beach combing for sea glass. After a quick dip in the pool, a soak in the hot tub, we were off for dinner at Barney's .....some yummy seafood! Day Three was our excursion on SeaBob, very much like riding a torpedo on and below the water. We geared up in wet suits and took off for some fun. Eagle eye Lexi was great at spotting turtles..think she found 5-6 in the area.....plus she found a stingray.
She loved going flying underwater to swim with them. After lunch at Moomba Beach we were off for some retail therapy in town with a stop on the other end of the island to visit Baby Beach. Photo stops at the big anchor and a stop to pet some wild donkeys filled our afternoon. Lexi was able to find little gifts for everyone on her list....mission completed! Dinner that night was on our porch with a walk on the beach to watch a beautiful sunset. Sailing on The Octopus was in store for Day Four in Aruba. We boarded the ship with only one other couple and were soon off across the turquoise waters of the Caribbean. First stop was the Antilla, then it was on to a reef. We had a light breakfast on the boat and lunch was served after we finished snorkeling. A great day out on the water! A brief and nap and then our last chance to snorkel and enjoy the beach. Lexi had fun with a can of Cheese Whiz....being attacked by all the fish. She also worked on her tan.....trying to get darker than Gigi! For our final night in Aruba we got all dressed up and had a lovely dinner at Pincho's, a restaurant out over the water. Dinner was delicious, the sunset breathtaking, and the drive around the detour interesting...but we made it safe and sound!
A perfect end to our trip. Day Five we finished packing, turned into the rental car, and checked into the airport for our nonstop flight to Houston. Dale picked us up and first stop was at Whataburger......Lexi's favorite!
